Job Title

Energy Advisor – Green Deal Pilot Project

Job Purpose

Role subject to funds being secured. Working within a small team of advisors to deliver a locally based energy saving advice service to residents of hard-to-treat homes. Encouraging the appropriate take up of home energy retrofits.

Hours of work; 24 hours per week, at times to be agreed. This will include some Saturday and evening work.

Start date; January 2012 – Subject to funding being secured.

Place of work; Northfield Ecocentre, 53 Church Road, B31 2LB

Training It will be necessary for you to undertake training for a City and Guilds qualification on Energy Advice or other courses appropriate to this role.

Salary; in the region of £21,528 pro rata

Holiday entitlement; 17 days including all bank holiday entitlements

Duration of contract; Fixed term until October 2012. Subject to funding

Probationary period; 3 month and 6 month reviews

Project Role

  • Successful delivery of a Green Deal Pilot project in SW Birmingham
  • Help to develop and deliver an energy saving advice service for hard-to-treat homes. Detailing savings that can be made through behaviour change and home energy retrofits.
  • Assist with the marketing of the service to ensure successful delivery, including reaching of key targets.
  • Manage and assist volunteers in the delivery of the service.
  • Maintain accurate records about the outputs and outcomes of the service.
  • Successful partnership working between the different agencies involved in the project.
  • Delivery of an exit or continuation strategy
  • Assist with day to day running of Ecocentre including cleaning

Key Tasks

  1. Running the project
  • Provide an energy advice service that includes a one-to-one energy assessment for residents.
  • Day to day running of the project, including managing paperwork, booking appointments and developing resources
  • Staffing the office and reception
  • Assist with recruitment, training and retention of volunteers
  1. Communications & marketing
  • Networking with other organisations and assist with developing referral systems
  • Assist with developing and implementing a communications and media strategy for the project
  • Assist with identifying key community groups and organisations who may benefit from the project
  • Co-ordinating volunteers to help deliver marketing and advice for the project
  1. Development of the Project
  • Working with other project staff to monitor outputs and evaluate progress.
  • Help to prepare Northfield Ecocentre for the Green Deal due to begin in Autumn 2012.
